Global Wetland Outlook 2028: Wetlands for Healthy Cities
We invite you to share your city's experience with wetlands as a case study for the Global Wetland Outlook 2028: Wetlands for Healthy Cities — the flagship publication of the Convention on Wetlands. The Global Wetland Outlook 2028 (GWO2028) will deliver a comprehensive global review of how wetlands contribute to healthy, resilient, and livable cities — and of the pathways that are making this possible.
Why this form?
We are looking for exemplary actions your city has taken to integrate wetlands into urban planning. This is not an exhaustive form: what matters most to us is your summary and key references, so we know exactly what to look for and where to go for a deeper understanding.
Estimated completion time: 15 minutes. Please submit your answers by August 30 2026.
Your submission will contribute to the Global Wetland Outlook 2028 (GWO2028) meta-analysis, which will assess trends, challenges, and good practices related to wetlands and urbanization.
We particularly encourage submissions from cities in Latin America and the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, and Africa, as well as coastal cities worldwide, as these remain under-represented in the global evidence base.

Are you an accredited Wetland City?
Your city is already included in the GWO2028 meta-analysis — no action is needed.
You are welcome to complete this survey if you would like to:
- highlight a project, policy, or initiative not covered in your city's Nomination Form or most recent Renewal Form; or
- provide additional detail on something that was included in those forms.

Any personal information collected (such as your name, organisation, position and contact details) will only be used to manage submissions, communicate with contributors, verify information and acknowledge contributions where appropriate. Submitting a case study does not guarantee its inclusion in GWO2028.
The Convention on Wetlands Secretariat may analyse, edit and publish case study information. Personal contact details will not be published without your consent. Your personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection requirements and the IUCN Data Protection Policy. Access to personal data will be restricted to authorised personnel and consultants supporting the development of GWO-2028.
